La Ferme du Bec Hellouin is a successful small-scale farm run by Perrine and Charles Hervé-Gruyer. Be inspired by the couple’s philosophy in their book, Miraculous Abundance.
Miraculous Abundance tells the story of La Ferme du Bec Hellouin, and outlines the unique approach to farming adopted by the couple. Unlike other books featured on this website, Miraculous Abundance is not a ‘how-to’ manual, but we have featured it as it discusses in detail the importance of developing new farming techniques, alongside the inspiring story of the farm’s development.
Why we love it
This book offers a really interesting introduction to the idea of farming both for people and for the land. The authors had never farmed before they established La Ferme du Bec Hellouin, so it is likely to be particularly inspiring for people who are just setting out on their farming journey.
“I loved this book but it’s not a how to book, it’s a story of a family learning to farm. What I most enjoyed about this book was that it appealed to my sense of beauty and possibility in a way that other market gardening books haven’t.” – Adam
“A very inspiring but somewhat idealistic book. It gives a new take on what the future could look like. It’s definitely food for thought.” – Eva
“Inspiring and visionary.” – Katri
